The Polygon Chain Development Kit (CDK) is an open-source, modular toolkit designed for blockchain developers. It facilitates the setup and customization of diverse chain architectures. The Polygon CDK enables developers to deploy new Layer 2 (L2) chains that utilize Polygon's zkEVM technology on the Ethereum network, or to transition existing Layer 1 (L1) chains into zk-EVM-based L2 chains in the future.
Modularity and Sovereignty: The Polygon CDK provides a flexible, modular framework for designing ZK-powered Layer 2 (L2) chains. Developers can tailor these chains to meet specific requirements, enhancing their control and customization capabilities.
Scalability: Chains developed with the Polygon CDK boost transaction speeds and can be scaled out to create a dynamically expandable ecosystem.
Independent Data Availability: With a specialized data availability layer and a dedicated committee, chains developed using the Polygon CDK ensure reliable and robust access to off-chain data. This setup operates independently of Ethereum, providing enhanced data resilience and integrity.
Interoperability (In Progress): An interoperability layer currently under development will allow for seamless transactions between L2 chains, facilitating atomic transfers across different layers. Chains that incorporate the Polygon CDK will have the option to join this interoperability layer, accessing a pool of unified liquidity.
Near-Instant Finality: Utilizing cryptographic security, chains deployed with the Polygon CDK achieve transaction integrity without relying on full nodes. This method ensures near-instant finality and strong security.
